Who We Are (old page)

Lake Edge United Church of Christ

Worship is the heart of the Lake Edge community. Since our start in 1948, Lake Edge has been known for its emphasis on concern for the poor and disadvantaged, in our community and beyond. We encourage each of our roughly 750 adult members to seek a deepening relationship with God, and we work to equip each other to say “Yes” to God’s initiative in Jesus Christ.

Our roughly 50 children and youth participate in Sunday morning church school, along with many other faith-based activities for families. There are many opportunities for middle and high school youth to grow in discipleship, including annual workcamps.

Our music ministry offers four choirs (Adult Vocal, Handbell and Youth Vocal choirs at the 9 a.m. service and a worship band at the 11:15 service), along with organ, piano, instrumental and vocal music, ranging in style from classic to contemporary.

How things work around here

Lake Edge invites all persons – from the spiritually curious to the lifelong Christian – to seek a place in our community.

We welcome and affirm the full participation of all persons who honor Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior, including people of every race, nationality, gender, marital status, sexual orientation, physical or mental ability and economic status.

We honor the worth and dignity of all people as children of God.

Our church is self-governing. Lay leaders are elected to guide our four major boards: Education, Outreach, the Diaconate (responsible for the spiritual life and care of our members), and the Board of Trustees.

The Cabinet meets every month to oversee the life and ministry of the congregation, while the whole congregation meets twice a year to adopt fiscal plans, elect leaders, and review the work of the church.
