Board of Christian Outreach
One of four standing boards which govern Lake Edge (The others are: Trustees, Diaconate and Board of Christian Education), the Board of Christian Outreach (BOCO) strives to support Lake Edge's many projects focused on helping people in need beyond the walls of Lake Edge. The Board of Christian Outreach coordinates the Focus on Mission briefings during worship on the 2nd Sunday of the month and occasionally a more detailed Sunday School presentation. Many different Lake Edge groups and committees are involved in service and outreach projects; BOCO facilitates communication among these groups, aids in strategic planning, and serves as an advocate for Lake Edge's commitment to mission. Service in the spirit of Matthew 25 has been a special focus of Lake Edge since the birth of Lake Edge, and Lake Edge helped start several major community programs. One of BOCO's main tasks is managing the funds members have pledged for mission and service, and funds donated to Lake Edge or raised by Lake Edge on behalf of mission and service. Lake Edge members can suggest organizations for BOCO to fund. To make a suggestion, download the funds request form: Microsoft Word form OR pdf form. Fill it out and turn your form into the BOCO mailbox outside the church office, or e-mail it to BOCO chair Nancy Schultz, and BOCO will consider it at the next meeting.
The Board of Christian Outreach meets on "Board Night", the fourth Thursday of the month, along with the other church boards. The BOCO meetings are at 6:45 in Room 104. Members are nominated and elected annually for three-year terms.
