Lake Edge United Church of Christ is self-governing.
The Cabinet is the final decision-making body of the church and includes reporting members from the four standing boards: Board of Administration-Trustees, Board of Deacons, Board of Christian Outreach and Board of Christian Education. Together these boards of elected members of the congregation make all the major decisions about the policies, plans and projects of the church, considering various committee and staff recommendations as well as occasional congregational surveys and polls. The whole congregation meets twice a year to approve the budget, review plans for the church, and elect leaders. All church members have a vote at these annual meetings. Board meetings are public, and minutes are available in the church office and in the church library. The Cabinet, consisting of 11 voting members, meets on the second Thursday of every month at 6:30 p.m. The Cabinet is led by the Moderator, an elected member of the congregation. The current Moderator is David Lindorff. Other directly-elected Cabinet members are the Assistant Moderator, the Clerk (keeps records), the Treasurer (tracks the money and writes the checks), and two Cabinet Members-at-Large. Other Cabinet members elected from the congregation include the previous Moderator and the Chairs of the four Boards. Ministerial staff are also on the Cabinet as non-voting members.
Other standing elected committees are the Music Committee and the Scholarship Committee.
Other working committees (which people can join if interested) are: the Identity and Evangelism Team, the Annual Giving Campaign Committee, the Library Committee, the Website Team, the Courtyard Garden Committee, and Women's Fellowship.
