Cookie Walk Cookbook

Lake Edge member Bonnie Holmes is reading the "The Cookie Walk Cookbook" published in 1991 by Lake Edge Women's Fellowship with a lot of the prize winning recipes they have shared over the many years of cookie walk Lake Edge style. "In the book are fancy Candy Cane Cookies from Barb Stoneman and a variety thru to Chocolate Star Cookies from Florence Smith. I especially like the dedication -- lovingly to Rev John Shield for being a longtime Formidable Consumer of the goodies.

Peggy's Heart & Soul Column: On Whole Grains

For Our Bodies, Minds and Souls: “I would feed you with the finest of the wheat…” – Psalm 81:16

The Dietary Guidelines for Americans recommends that we “make half of our grains whole.” They want us to replace
refined-grain foods like white bread, rice, and rolls with wholegrain options. But, why whole grains? Well, because whole grains are loaded with vitamins, minerals, fiber, and anti-oxidants – all critical for protecting us from a multitude of sins like heart disease, intestinal disorders, cancer, and diabetes. And whole grains have great taste!

Responsive Reading Group

Reading and discussion group, occasional Sunday afternoons

The Responsive Reading group focuses on reading books (primarily non-fiction, but occasionally fiction) that are compelling, thought-provoking, creative--and that elicit a response from us-- as people of faith, as citizens, and as curious, investigative thinkers.

You are invited to join us, even if you haven't read the book!
