Children of all ages are invited up to the front
for "Word for All Ages", an interactive sermon just for children.

Older children participate fully in the worship service. Adults are welcome to keep younger children with them as well if they prefer, OR

Young children may enjoy Children's Music during the grown-ups' sermon. Here's how it works: During both worship services, following Word for All Ages, children in 2nd grade or younger will be escorted out of the sanctuary for Children's Music with Director Kerstin Smith. Children will be working on basic music concepts and music appreciation through singing, movement, and playing instruments. The children will sing in both services once every other month. Children older than 2nd grade are welcome to participate in special music presentations such as the Christmas Musical. At the end of the 9 a.m. worship service, children are brought from their children's music lesson straight to the youth room where Sunday School begins with a snack and Junior Church. At the end of the 11 a.m. worship service, Kerstin brings the children back to their families just before the end of worship.

We are happy to have children in worship with us, even if they get noisy! For people who want to take a break with a young child, the Hearthside Room next door to the sanctuary has a window view and speakers so you can still hear what's going on.

Communion: At Lake Edge, some families prefer to have children wait until they are confirmed to take communion; others encourage them to take communion as soon as they feel children understand it. A child's caretaker determines whether he or she can receive communion. Communion is served with grape juice and regular or gluten-free bread. (In the style where people come to the front of the sanctuary to receive communion, please let the server know if your small child should receive the bread and juice.)

Supervision of young children between Sunday School and worship: Sunday School takes place from 10:10-10:50 a.m. between the two worship services. Following Sunday School, young children of all ages will be gathered together in the Youth Room (basement) awaiting parents' pick-up.
