"The water I give them takes away thirst altogether. It becomes a perpetual spring within." John 4:13This image with the Worship Grow Serve tagline is a mini-vision statement we can easily remember and write on our hearts. The image symbolizes that we are filled to overflowing with God's living water through worship and spiritual growth so that we can in turn pour out those blessings in service to others. The basin evokes the scene of Christ washing the feet of the disciples, instructing them that they must likewise become servants. (John 13:12-17)
Our mini-vision statement guides our community in three ways:
It summarizes the
current core strengths of this faith community:
worship (rich in integrity, joy and challenge), spiritual growth (
faith education programs for all ages as well as an informal culture of reading and discussion), and
Christian service or mission to others, especially the poor and disadvantaged.
It summarizes the
strategic priorities of the faith community. We continually strive to proactively improve and innovate in worship, spiritual growth, and service and mission, and welcome new ideas that will help us move forward toward our common vision.
It summarizes the
individual's role as a member of the community. We expect individuals within the Lake Edge community to make a commitment to worship -- regularly and with integrity and joy, to strive to grow ever deeper in spirituality, and to live out their faith by giving of themselves in service to others. Lake Edge has a long history of putting a high priority on caring for the poor and disadvantaged. For Lake Edgers, faith is something more than sitting in the pew on Sunday morning.
Lake Edgers are encouraged to fill out a personal commitment card. On the front is our signature pitcher image. On the back there is space to jot your private intentions for living out the community vision to Worship, Grow and Serve. Post the card in your home front side out as a reminder of your individual role in the vision of the faith community. You can find the commitment cards in the pew pockets at church, or you can print them on your home computer
right here.
